About the exhibition
Get to = Ghetto is a demarcated living area in which a certain group of people live. The artist Stik comes from a district like that in London. Young and extremely sympathetic, he gives a new value to broken things. Old walls, collapsed houses, bare facades, abandoned streets, doors, or bridges - often enough they stand for destroyed habitats, scrap, insignificance. It is precisely there that his figures are artfully contextualized and arranged meaningfully. Through Stik's art, all these places get back into our field of vision and gain our attention again. Poverty is perceived instead of despised. Stik knows what and where he sprayed or painted, his home was long the road, now he opens up new corners and ways.
The exhibition "POP & URBAN ART WITH HIGHLIGHTS FROM STIK WORKS OF ART" from 7th April to 7th September 2017 is the first show with works by the British urban artist Stik in Germany. In addition to his pieces, works by Pop & Urban Art artists such as Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Banksy and Blek le Rat will be also presented.
